"We look forward to always being that consistent support system and biggest fans for each other. We also just love getting to call each other husband and wife!!"

Nicolas and Kristen Huerta

TELL US ABOUT YOUR LOVE STORY!

How did you meet?

We met in high school in marching band!

How did you know he was “The One”?

He is my best friend, my biggest cheerleader, and my rock.

How did he propose?

We went to dinner followed by a walk at Landa Park. He proposed to me under a tree that meant a lot to me and my late grandma!

Describe your wedding planning process

Who helped with the planning?

I did the majority of the planning but had an immense amount of help from Nic, my parents, and his parents.

Did you hire a planner or day-of coordinator?

I did hire a day-of coordinator! Her name is Jessica Posey with Heaven Sent Events!

Did you DIY any aspect of your wedding?

We did personalized napkins, a mirror with decals on it, as well as a seating chart.

Did you have a specific theme?

Our theme was timeless! We really wanted to focus on simple beauty!

Where did you save the most?

We saved the most on our florals because of our goal of having simple arrangements! Our colors were white and greenery and we had flowers EVERYWHERE! It truly gave our wedding such an upscale elegant feel while still being so “clean”. We also saved on our photography and were so pleased with her as a person and, of course, her pictures.

Where did you splurge?

We splurged on the venue because of how much we loved it!

Why did you choose your venue?

Posey Meadows was such a beautiful venue and it was the one where we saw ourselves getting married at. Plus, the new chapel they built was gorgeous and their reception has a beautiful back wall full of windows!

Did you incorporate any special traditions or sentimental details in your ceremony or reception?

We had a memorial chair on our front row for those we wished could have been with us. My mom, stepmom, and my mother-in-law were my “something blue” for the traditional “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”. We wanted to make sure they felt special during our wedding day!

What was your most stressful decision?

The seating chart. Trying to piece together guests that wouldn’t all normally be in the same place at the same time was a struggle. But it was absolutely worth it because it made our day go so much easier!

What turned out to be your best decision surrounding the big day?

We LOVED our ice cream from Scoop Street! And all of our guests did too! I think we only had a couple of bowls of one flavor left over! We also loved the look of our florals. They just tied everything together beautifully.

Is there anything you would have done differently?

Not at all!

Tell Us About...

Your dress:

It was perfect! I got it from Celebrations Bridal and Prom. I loved the simplicity of it but my favorite details were the buttons down the dress and my train.

Your flowers:

My favorite detail from the day! Barbie was recommended by a friend and she was truly better than I could imagine!

The Food:

Posey Meadows catered through Italian Garden. It was delicious and received a lot of compliments on it!

The Cake:

2Tarts killed it! We got a blackberry white cake with raspberry filling and it was so delicious! We also had ice cream from Scoop Street. We did “His” and “Hers” flavors which were mango sorbet and an earl grey with blackberry swirl with granola! The dessert table was truly a huge hit!

Recap your big day for us

What made you laugh?

My bridal party and Nic were constantly keeping up the vibes and making sure I was stress free!

What made you cry?

How sweet and perfect the day was. I loved talking to our guests and received so many compliments throughout our wedding day. It made me so happy!

What were the most memorable moments?

I did a first look with my dad and did another first look with my brothers. I am so glad I opted to do that because it is memory that I will never forget!

Did anything unexpected happen?

Nothing really unexpected happened that I know of!

Advice and Looking Ahead

What’s the best advice you can give a bride and groom planning their wedding?

At the end of the day, you will be married and that’s the best part! Just breathe and enjoy the day!

What did you look forward to most as Mr. and Mrs.?

We look forward to always being that consistent support system and biggest fans for each other. We also just love getting to call each other husband and wife!!
