Jared and Stephany Sheneman
TELL US ABOUT YOUR LOVE STORY!
How did you meet?
Jared and I met on an online Christian dating app called “Upward.” We matched on the very same night that I downloaded the app! Jared sent the first message the following day and the rest is history.
How did you know he was “The One”?
I knew that Jared was the one because he checked off all of my boxes I wanted in a future husband. There were some boxes I didn’t think would be possible to find! He quickly became my best friend and the person I knew I couldn’t live without.
How did he propose?
Jared proposed on his birthday trip that we took together to Toronto, Canada. He proposed after dinner at a beautiful French restaurant. After the dessert was brought out, he got down on one knee and popped the question.
Describe your wedding planning process
Who helped with the planning?
Jared and I worked together to plan the wedding of our dreams. Since I was little, planning a wedding was always something I looked forward to. I had the best time doing it just him and me.
Did you hire a planner or day-of coordinator?
I hired the best day-of coordinator that ensured the day went by smoothly and according to plan. I was really able to enjoy the day knowing that she had all the last minute details taken care of.
Did you DIY any aspect of your wedding?
I DIY’d my own wedding signage, seating chart, and table numbers using templates I purchased on Etsy. I also had an extremely artistic friend make my welcome sign!
Where did you save the most?
I saved the most by doing my own planning and decor.
Where did you splurge?
I splurged on having a plated dinner instead of a buffet-style dinner. It really helped make the dinner feel more formal and made it easier on our guests.
Why did you choose your venue?
I really loved the simple, modern elegance of Posey Meadows. It was everything I wanted and more in a wedding venue. From the beautiful white French farmhouse with big windows and natural light to the gorgeous outdoor reception area with cascading oak trees. What’s not to love?
Did you incorporate any special traditions or sentimental details in your ceremony or reception?
I carried my mother-in-law’s handkerchief that she carried at her wedding around my bridal bouquet, and wore Jared’s grandmother’s emerald earrings and bracelet. We also ended the night with The Texas Aggie War Hymn, as is tradition for many Texas A&M graduate weddings.
What was your most stressful decision?
The most stressful decision was deciding on our guest list. There were many other people we would have loved to invite to our wedding, but we wanted the people that were the most important to us as priority.
What turned out to be your best decision surrounding the big day?
The best decision we made was having a first look! Although this is controversial to some, we really enjoyed getting to spend this extra time together on our wedding day, and it ended up being our favorite part of the entire day! We used this time to read private vows to each other which made it extra special.
Is there anything you would have done differently?
Although there may have been minor inconveniences, I wouldn’t change a single thing about our wedding day. We enjoyed everything about our wedding, and it really was the best day of our lives!

What’s the best advice you can give a bride and groom planning their wedding?
