Ryan and Payton Dishman
TELL US ABOUT YOUR LOVE STORY!
How did you meet?
My father was playing on a church-league softball game that I attended every now and then! A lot of my friends had husbands or other family members on the team, so it was always a fun get together. One of these friends is now my sister-in-law, Amy. Ryan came to hang with Amy and cheer on her husband Cole and other friends. This is when we hit it off!
How did you know he was “The One”?
I don’t have a specific moment where I knew Ryan was the one, but I think over time I just fell more in love with who he was.
How did he propose?
He pretended to have a flat tire and stopped on the side of the road. We went to “wait” under a white gazebo where he had this beautiful picnic already set up! It was perfect!
Describe your wedding planning process
Did you hire a planner or day-of coordinator?
I did hire a day-of coordinator who also helped with the planning! Her name is Rachel O’brien, and she was so helpful. I loved knowing I didn’t have to worry about our wedding day as she had it all under control.
Did you DIY any aspect of your wedding?
YES! I loved DIY-ing a lot of details at our wedding. I DIY-ed all the signage, the ceremony flowers, and the food menu.
Did you have a specific theme?
We had a garden theme! We played off of the venue’s beautiful garden ceremony space and continued with that light and feminine feel throughout our decor!
Where did you splurge?
We splurged on our photographer and, as you can see by our photos, it was worth EVERY PENNY. We wanted to trust all of our memories would be captured and cherished throughout our marriage.
Why did you choose your venue?
I loved the fountain and garden outside! It worked so well with our feminine, minimalistic garden theme. The venue was just naturally beautiful, so it didn’t need a lot of decor to meet our theme.
Did you incorporate any special traditions or sentimental details in your ceremony or reception?
We had both sets of our parents come up and pray around us while the guests worshiped and prayed over our marriage. It was a beautiful way to start off our marriage with such a wonderful support system.
What was your most stressful decision?
The floral colors were a stressful decision for me. I didn’t want to choose something that would disrupt our flow of colors and vibe.
What turned out to be your best decision surrounding the big day?
We chose to decorate the day before the wedding! This was amazing because it allowed our wedding day to be completely calm. I loved being able to be a part of setting up for the wedding without having the stress of it being ON our wedding day.
Is there anything you would have done differently?
NO! It was beyond perfect.
What turned out to be your best decision surrounding the big day?
Having the ceremony inside! We got amazing pictures with NO wind!
Tell Us About...
Your dress:
It was very simple, fitting, and elegant with unique pearl sleeves!
Your flowers:
The flowers were everywhere which of course helped with our garden feel! I loved how they added so much color into all of our details!
The food:
The food was AMAZING! We had three cheese stuffed chicken with garlic cream sauce, roast potatoes, and vegetables. They also passed out hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour of barbeque meatballs, mini-chicken and waffles, and bacon wrapped chicken with raspberry chipotle sauce.
The cake:
The cake was a five-tiered cake with cookies and cream, coconut flavor and strawberry filling with a cream cheese frosting.
Recap your big day for us
What made you laugh?
My mom and her friends did a flash mob dance to Pitch Perfect! It was choreographed, and it was so much fun to watch!
What made you cry?
Our private vows definitely made me cry. It was so sweet and intimate.
Did anything unexpected happen?
We both got a stomach bug on the wedding day, so we were both throwing up all day… but we still had the best day ever!
What’s the best advice you can give a bride and groom planning their wedding?
To stay as present as possible! It is so easy to get caught up in the planning and decisions that need to be made, but we did our very best to stay as focused on each other and our marriage as possible.
What did you look forward to most as Mr. and Mrs.?
We were definitely looking forward to traveling and starting the first chapter of our life together!
