"Give yourself enough time to plan the wedding of your dreams! Try not to stress! In the end you will laugh about the whole process anyway!"

Jose and Nalissa Montes

TELL US ABOUT YOUR LOVE STORY!

How did you meet?

My friend planned a game night at her house and took a video of everyone who attended. She then posted it on her Snapchat story, and Jose messaged her and asked who I was. She gave him my Instagram tag, and then he slid into my DM’s! That’s how it all started!

How did you know he was “The One”?

I just had a feeling he was the one because he wasn’t afraid to express himself. He knew I was the one because I put up with his foolishness!

How did he propose?

Jose created his plan with my mom because she knew a photographer, Kayla Newsome. Kayla reached out to Jose and me if we would like to be models for a photoshoot she was wanting to do. We said yes of course. On the day of the shoot, I had absolutely NO idea what was happening until it did. Our family was at the location and was watchird as well. I was completely shocked!

Describe your wedding planning process

Who helped with the planning?

My mom and sister were the main people who helped with the planning! We also had help from our month-of planner, Courtney from Meek and Wild.

Did you have a specific theme?

We didn’t have a specific theme, but I knew I wanted something classy! I added a touch of pink because it is my favorite color.

Where did you save the most?

We saved the most money on the catering. We messaged several caterers and got quotes back that were ridiculously expensive. We finally found someone in our budget which made me very happy!

Where did you splurge?

Our biggest splurge was on our venue. I had a certain look I had always envisioned for our wedding day. Plus, I didn’t want to look back at my photos in 20 years and wish I had spent the extra money for the venue of my dreams.

Why did you choose your venue?

Posey Meadows was everything I had ever wanted! Plus, they had great reviews, clear communication, and a hard-working team.

What was your most stressful decision?

Our most stressful decision was who to invite and how many guests we could invite with our preferred budget.

What turned out to be your best decision surrounding the big day?

Having a month-of wedding planner! I never communicated with any vendors or anything the day of. It was amazing. As far as I know, nothing went wrong during the day!

Tell Us About...

Your dress:

Immediately after I got engaged, I started looking online at dresses. I found out about Made with Love bridal dresses and looked on their website to see if I liked anything. I actually took screenshots of two dresses that were the same style but different materials. When I went to Blue Bridal, I knew they carried Made with Love. I went in with an open mind. Our stylist brought in four different styles for me to try and after seeing them, I decided I just wanted to show her the screenshots I had. As soon as I showed them to her, she pulled the exact ones. I selected the plain crepe style dress, as it was more my style. After that, I just tried on other dresses for fun because this is a once in a lifetime experience!

Your flowers:

We ended up going simple and classy with pink roses and baby’s breath!

The Food:

Unfortunately I am a picky eater, so I knew I wanted something simple. We had a choice of chicken breast or pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and cucumber salad!

The Cake:

I am a huge cake person! I love all of the basic flavors, but I knew I wanted to add more than just the basic options. We had five different cake flavors because I just couldn’t choose. We had funfetti, mimosa red berry, carrot cake, and chocolate!

Recap your big day for us

What made you laugh?

My sister’s speech took our guests through ALL of my different eras. It was fun to go down memory lane reminiscing and laughing at all of my “past selves.”

What made you cry?

Seeing each other walk down the aisle definitely made me cry. It was the first time we had seen each other in our wedding attire. We opted not to do a first look but instead have that moment walking down the aisle. It was the best decision ever!

What were the most memorable moments?

Definitely seeing each other walk down the aisle! Also, getting to see everything we had been planning for over a year come together and LOVING every aspect of it. Definitely a day I wish I could relive!

What’s the best advice you can give a bride and groom planning their wedding?

Give yourself enough time to plan the wedding of your dreams! Try not to stress! In the end you will laugh about the whole process anyway!
